I remember crying at work in the middle of a meeting.
Me and a few coworkers were brainstorming content ideas for the restructured lifestyle department I was charged to lead. One of my coworkers suggested I assign an online gallery of celebrity homes.
I started to get tears in my eyes at her suggestion.
I used to produce photo galleries like that more than a decade before when I was fresh out of college.
And here I was feeling like I was having the same conversations all those years later. I felt stuck and like I was running in place.
As a cancer survivor I prided myself on making the most of the gift of life and this was not how I wanted to spend my time – talking about other people’s homes instead of building my own.
As reality hit me and they looked at me, I had to get honest with myself.
I could no longer pretend like I didn’t know I had outgrown the seat I was sitting in.
I let my coworkers know in a whisper that I knew it was time for me to make a change.
Now, I gotta ask you the tough question: Is all your hard work working for you?
Are you seeing the return for all the time, energy and money you put in to be great at what you do?
If not, you are not alone. The great news is it only takes ONE decision to change things.
That decision is to own there’s MORE FOR ME.
That’s what I had to do and was able to leave a job I had outgrown and build a business and platform that has grown even in a pandemic.
I’m so excited to share how me and my clients are able to grow our businesses leveraging media and speaking.
And can I tell you something else? Nothing we ever do is wasted. So even if you feel like you’ve wasted time or stayed too long, it can all be used for where you are going next – and make for great content and keynotes.
